PPGA has the following Membership Types available. All training membership types, including Pet Care are available as Professional, Associate and Provisional.

● Pet Care (which covers dog walker/groomers/rescue/boarding/adjunct therapies/retailer)

● Veterinarian Behaviourist / Behaviour Veterinarian

Membership Fees

Professional Level $90 per year

Associate Level $65 per year

Provisional Level $45 per year

Emeritus Level $25 per year

Criteria
  • Has relevant industry qualification/s 
  • Has relevant industry experience, knowledge and skills
  • Actively practices force free training methods
  • Due diligence is undertaken on applications
  • Requires a current PPGA Professional member as a referee on application
  • Is required to maintain a minimum of 20 CEPs annually
  • Obtains, where applicable, appropriate insurance coverage for professional business owners

  • Business/Name is advertised on the PPGA public website
  • Has access to PPGA Vendor discounts
  • Professional members have voting rights 
 Associate Criteria
  • Has relevant industry qualification/s
  • Has relevant industry experience, knowledge and skills
  • Actively practices force free training methods
  • Is required to maintain a minimum of 15 CEPs annually
  • Due diligence is undertaken on applications
  • Suitable/relevant Insurance is required for Associate Member Business owners

  • Business/Name is not advertised on the PPGA public website
  • Has access to PPGA Vendor discounts
  • Associate members have voting rights 
 Provisional
  • A student, trainee or employee without relevant industry qualifications - typically studying or working toward a qualification
  • A student, trainee or employee without relevant industry experience, knowledge and skills - typically working on these
  • Actively practices force free training methods
  • Is required to maintain a minimum of 10 CEPs annually

  • Business/Name is not advertised on the PPGA public website
  • Has access to PPGA Vendor discounts
  • Provisional members don’t have voting rights 
 Pet Care Professional

Per Professional criteria and benefits above

  • Is required to maintain a minimum of 20 CEPs annually
 Pet Care Associate

  • Is required to maintain a minimum of 15 CEPs annually
 Pet Care Provisional

 Veterinary Behaviourist

 Emeritus
  • A previous professional member of the Pet Professional Guild Australia who has retired
  • Emeritus membership is granted with the approval of the Pet Professional Guild Australia committee.
  • Does not have voting rights.

    Honorary

    • A previous Professional member of the Pet Professional Guild Australia.

    • Is an advocate for Force-Free practices:
        • Consistently promotes training and handling methods that are free from fear, pain, force, or intimidation.
        • Serves as a role model for ethical, science-based approaches to animal welfare and training.
    • Honorary membership is awarded with approval from the Pet Professional Guild Australia committee.
    • Contribution to Animal Welfare:
        • Demonstrates a significant and positive impact on the welfare of companion animals through professional practice, education, and/or advocacy.
        • Works to strengthen the human–animal bond, using evidence-based methods.
    • Leadership and Influence:
        • Inspires and mentors others within the animal care and training community.
        • Actively encourages and supports the growth of force-free principles among professionals and pet guardians.
    • Alignment with the guiding principles and values of the Pet Professional Guild Australia:
        • Embodies the PPGA’s commitment to compassion, respect, and collaboration.
    • Does not have voting rights.
