Animal training and behaviour qualifications, certifications and courses you have completed
Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biological Science A university-level scientific qualification providing advanced knowledge of biological systems, genetics, physiology, research methodology, critical analysis and evidence-based practice. This degree gives me a strong scientific foundation for understanding feline health, development, stress responses, learning, behaviour and welfare, and for critically evaluating behavioural research and training methodologies. Advanced Track Diploma in Feline Behaviour Science and Technology — Companion Animal Sciences Institute (CASI FBST) A comprehensive specialist qualification focused specifically on feline behaviour and professional behaviour consulting. Study areas included feline ethology, learning theory, behaviour assessment, functional analysis, environmental influences, enrichment, stress and fear, aggression, inappropriate elimination, inter-cat relationships, behaviour-modification planning, client communication, professional ethics and evidence-based, force-free intervention. Cat Psychology and Training Certificate Completed specialist training in feline communication, body language, motivation, socialisation, confidence building and reinforcement-based training. This included the practical application of clicker training, targeting, shaping, desensitisation, counterconditioning and positive reinforcement to teach useful behaviours, husbandry skills and performance behaviours without fear, pain, force or intimidation. I also undertake ongoing professional development through current feline behaviour research, industry education, case work, behaviour consultations and the practical training of cats for cooperative care, public demonstrations, stage performances, exhibitions and media work. My methods are science-based, welfare-focused and consistent with least-intrusive, minimally aversive and force-free practice.
